Hang Nadim International Airport Infrastructure Revitalization Project

Hang Nadim International Airport Infrastructure Revitalization Project

Infrastructure
Completed

Project Overview

Oversaw IT infrastructure modernization for Hang Nadim Airport, including engineering coordination, documentation, and system integration across critical systems before handover to new management.

Project Details

Timeline:1 Year & 4 Months
Role:Field IT Supervisor
Status:Completed

Key Results

  • We mapped out every single part of the existing & new infrastructure
  • Integrated Electrical Panel, DALI (Digital Addressable Lighting Interface), Flight Information Display, even runaway power to new Building Automation System. All system is integrated and controlled centrally on Power Control Room
  • New Shiny 24 Core Fiber Optic with redundancy support is spread across all the airport
  • Improved network latency across all airport
  • Established 24/7 monitoring & logging capabilities
  • Existing Legacy camera that no longer working, now back to normal
  • Baseline for the new management is met and can be transitioned smoothly

Challenge

The Airport Infrastructure needs revitalization before passed on to new management (from BP Batam to Angkasa Pura). Their main concern beside improving up-time & upgrading existing infrastructure is to mapped out the latest changes, technology, and basically turn everything into drawing to map for a weak point & be a baseline for new management to improve upon. This is tough because of how mission critical the airport is. The scope is very wide, from IT Infrastructure, Electrical, to Lighting System basically fused together to integrate within one system control (Building Automation System). Everything will need to be documented. Another challenge we face is how minimum the drawing for the existing infrastructure, and i have to coordinate between different engineering sectors, from Networking, IT Infrastructure, to Electrical Engineering. I was in my 4th semester when I supervised this project. Due to the scope and workload, I temporarily delayed college to lead the coordination of IT, electrical, and network systems — a decision I stand by

Solution

Coordinated 3 different sectors (Network, IT Infrastructure & Electrical) and have brainstorm session to map out the existing infrastructure, meeting is on weekly basis, usually about what we've done so far, what our plan is, and what we need from them. the hardest part is to make everyone play nice, while being democratic & aware of each scope. We follow strict guidelines for operation, before we start the work, we have to get some kind of signed form from our consultant, and we usually operate during night-morning before airport is operating. when doing task that require power or connection override, we got to have permission from head of the engineering, this usually involves alot of paper work.
